Project Overview

The Restoration and Development of Saladin Citadel project was undertaken to preserve one of Egypt’s most significant historical landmarks while enhancing its tourism infrastructure. The project combined heritage conservation with modern visitor facilities, ensuring the citadel remains protected and accessible for future generations.

Project Scope

  • Restoration of the historic walls and towers of the Saladin Citadel
  • Protection of the citadel against sea wave erosion
  • Construction of a new jetty for visitor access
  • Development and cleaning of the inner lagoon
  • Installation of a modern lighting system for nighttime visits
  • Construction of a cafeteria, restrooms, and wooden visitor shelters
  • Improvement of walkways, directional signage, and tourism services
